The Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University offers English classes for Graduate Studies of Mahidol University who are interested in taking the English Course to comply with the English Proficiency Standards from January 6th, 2016 to Febuary 27th, 2016.

Doctoral Degree Student
In the case where a doctoral degree student has an IELTS score lower than 5.0 or a TOEFL iBT score lower than 61 or a TOEFL ITP score lower than 500, the student must take the following course(s) :

SCORE	COURSE TO BE TAKEN
If a student has TOEFL ITP score: 470 - 499 or TOEFL IBT score: 52 - 60 or IELTS score at 4.5	The student must take GRID 532 Thesis Writing in Physical Sciences and Biosciences or GRID 533 Thesis Writing in Social Sciences and Humanities
If a student has TOEFL ITP score: 435 - 469 or TOEFL IBT score: 41 - 51 or IELTS score at 4	The student must take GRID 531English Academic Writing II and GRID 532 Thesis Writing in Physical Sciences and Biosciences or GRID 533 Thesis Writing in Social Sciences and Humanities (Two courses in total)
If a student has TOEFL ITP score: 400 - 434 or TOEFL iBT score: 32 - 40 or IELTS score at 3.0 - 3.5	The student must take GRID 530 English Academic Writing I and GRID 531 English Academic Writing II and GRID 532 Thesis Writing in Physical Sciences and Biosciences or GRID 533 Thesis Writing in Social Sciences and Humanities (Three courses in total)

Remark: The student must pass the course(s) prior to examination on the defense of thesis. 

Master's Degree Student
In the case that a student has an IELTS score lower than 5.0 or a TOEFL iBT score lower than 54 or a TOEFL ITP score lower than 480 or an MU Test score of lower than 45, the student must take the following course (s) :

SCORE	COURSE TO BE TAKEN
1. A student who has an IELTS score at 4 or a TOEFL iBT score of 41-51 or a TOEFL ITP score of 435-479 or an MU Test score of 38-44	The student must take Group 1: GRID 515 Speaking and Writing in Academic Context for Graduate Studies or Group 2: GRID 531 English Academic Writing II The student must pass the aforementioned course before the examination of their thesis defense.
2. A student who has an IELTS score at 3-3.5 or a TOEFL IBT score of 32-40 or a TOEFL ITP score of 400-434 or an MU Test score of 31-37	The student must take Group 1: GRID 514 Reading and Writing in Academic Context for Graduate Studies and GRID 515 Speaking and Writing in Academic Context for Graduate Studies or Group 2: GRID 530 English Academic Writing I and GRID 531 English Academic Writing II (two courses in total). The student must pass the aforementioned courses before the examination of their thesis defense.
3. A student who has an IELTS score below than 3 or a TOEFL IBT score below than 32 or a TOEFL ITP score below than 400 or an MU Test score below than 31	The student must take Group 1: GRID 517 Essential English Grammar for Graduate Studies and GRID 514 Reading and Writing in Academic Context for Graduate Studies and GRID 515 Speaking and Writing in Academic Context for Graduate Studies or Group 2: GRID 517 Essential English Grammar for Graduate Studies and GRID 530 English Academic Writing I and GRID 531 English Academic Writing II and either (three courses in total). The student must pass the aforementioned courses before the examination of their thesis defense.
