The
oldest of the three Bangkok campuses, Bangkok Noi Campus is located
on 28 acres (12 hectares) and is home to the original medical school
attached to Siriraj Hospital, founded by H.M. King Chulalongkorn of
Thailand in 1890 which over time expanded into Mahidol University.
The campus has retained its academic focus on medicine, revolving
around the Siriraj Hospital complex.
Bangkok Noi Campus is home to the Faculties of Nursing, Medical
Technology, and Medicine, Siriraj Hospital. The Royal Thai Government
recently approved a project proposal by the Faculty of Medicine,
Siriraj Hospital, to use the adjacent 12-acre site belonging to
the State Railway of Thailand, to house a major expansion of the
Facultys facilities, research activities and services, enhancing
the whole spectrum of medical and public health research toward
medical excellence in Southeast Asia.
Sporting facilities on campus include an indoor gymnasium, swimming
pools, and tennis courts. Bangkok Noi Campus is centrally located
in Bangkok, with easy transport connections to various shopping
and entertainment areas, including instant access to the ferries
which ply the Chao Phraya River. Eating establishments and accommodation
both on and off campus are also affordable and readily available.
