Dhammachari Lokamitra
Lokamitra was ordained as a member of the western Buddhist order by sangharakshita in 1974 in London. Since 1978 he has been living in India helping to develop and guide dharma (under the name of TBMSG & FWBO) and social projects (under the name of Bahujan Hitay) as well as wing of the order. This work has taken place largely amongst Dalits, people who until recently and even now in some places called and treated as untouchables. at present he is concentrating on three projects ,developing the Nagrjuna institute in Nagpur which trains people in the application of Buddhist principles to social questions, rehabilitation work for the Gujarat earthquake, and the Manuski training and resource center in Pune, Aimed at facilitating NGO's focusing on Dalits and other oppressed groups.


Lokamitra lives and works in Pune, India, assisting to develop a Buddhist community and various social work programs. He is also involved in developing the Nagrjuna Institute in Nagpur, devoted to training in Buddhist dharma and the application of Buddhist principles in to social action. For many years Lokamitra was the field director of the Karuna Trust (U.K.) which funds educational and health projects for the underprivileged in the Indian sub-continent
