General Information

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with Mahidol University, is proud to announce the "Mahidol-Norway Capacity Building Initiative for ASEAN" project, which offers 60 two-year Master's and 40 three-year PhD scholarships to study at Mahidol University, Thailand. The scholarships are available to faculty members in public universities, government officials in public sector, those working for NGOs, people with disabilities and from rural areas in selected ASEAN countries, including: Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. Female candidates are encouraged to apply.


Under this project, qualified candidates can apply to postgraduate programmes in 4 Programmes in Mahidol University, including: life sciences, social and population sciences, human rights & peace studies and disability studies, and environmental sciences and engineering. Applications are open for all potential candidates for the enrolment of Academic Year 2015 and 2016.

Master degree programmes: 60 scholarships

Doctoral degree programmes: 40 scholarships

Target Groups include:

  • 1. Faculty members of public universities, staff in university-affiliated institutions such as university hospitals, research centres and units.
  • 2. Government officials in public sector, including those working in local government agencies.
  • 3. Workforce in NGOs with strong contributions towards national economic and social development.
  • 4. People with disabilities, people from rural areas or disadvantage groups, including indigenous people, female citizens or displaced persons resulted from disasters and conflicts.
