6. Publication of master's degree research work for requesting approval for completion of the Master's degree



In accordance with the Academic Regulations of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University, B.E. 2552, Section 8, stating that a Master's degree student must publish his/her thesis as a requirement for completion of a Master's degree, Mahidol University, the thesis publication criteria have been amended.

The Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies with a resolution of the Faculty of Graduate Studies Committee meeting 5/2553, on the 16th June B.E. 2553, announced the thesis publication criteria required of a graduate student for completion of a Master's degree, Mahidol University, as follows.

  1. The announcement of the Academic Regulations of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University, B.E. 2549, whose subject was thesis publication requirement for a Master's degree student is annulled.

  2. This announcement applies to all Master's degree students who choose either plan A(1) (thesis only), or A(2) (coursework and thesis) and study in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in the Academic Year B.E. 2549 onwards.

  3. Publications Any publication must be of the student's research. It can be the thesis or a part of the thesis that has been approved and completed according to the thesis requirements by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University.

  4. Publishing There are 2 ways to publish the thesis or a part of the thesis.
    1. To publish the thesis or a part of the thesis in a journal or an academic printed matter which has a peer review.
    2. To present the thesis or a part of the thesis at an academic conference that has a peer review and proceedings.

  5. Types of journal or printed matter and academic conference considered suitable by the Master's degree student plan A(1) and A(2) set by the Faculty of Graduate Studies are as follows:
    1. A journal or printed matter publishing a student's thesis or a part of a thesis must be accepted in a student's field of study and has an article assessment system with editorial review or peer review. A student must submit the published document or letter of acceptance from the selected journal or printed matter, 2 copies of the article to the Faculty of Graduate Studies for graduation, and 2 copies of a reprint to the Faculty of Graduate Studies when publishing in a journal.

    2. Academic conferences
      1. A conference must be hosted by a division which is at least comparable to a faculty in a university. If it is an academic conference in a particular field of study, it must be hosted by organizations, not by a department or a program.
      2. In a conference stated in item 5.2.1, the conference must have proceedings and a student must also publish the thesis or part of thesis in the proceedings.
      3. A student must present the thesis or a part of the thesis in a conference in person. It can either be an oral presentation or a poster presentation. The student must submit 1) the proof of the presentation; 2) the documents used in the presentation; and 3) two (2) copies of a reprint that is published in the proceedings to the Faculty of Graduate Studies for completion of his/her degree.
  6. A student's name must be included in the thesis or a part of the thesis; it can be the first name or secondary name. It must be clarified that the thesis or a part of the thesis is under the research framework of Mahidol University.
  7. Any cases that are NOT inclusive of the criteria above shall be under the consideration of the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies whose decision is considered final.
