Curriculum Details

1. Admission Requirements

Plan A(1) - M.Sc. by research only

A candidate must:

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Health Science or other related discipline with a minimum GPA 3.25
  2. Pass the English Proficiency requirement anouced by the Faculty of Graduate Studies
  3. Have at least 1 year working experience in related field
  4. Have published an article in the field of Medical Technology or other related field
  5. Exemption from the above conditions may be granted by the Program Committee under exceptional circumstances

Plan A(2) - M.Sc. by coursework and research

A candidate must:

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Health Science or other related discipline with a minimum GPA 2.50 or
  2. Be a final year student in Medical Technology, Health Science or other related discipline with a minimum GPA 2.50
  3. Pass the English Proficiency requirement anouced by the Faculty of Graduate Studies
  4. Exemption from the above conditions may be granted by the Program Committee under exceptional circumstances

2. English Language Proficiency

Minimum English proficiency score for admission

  IELTS minimum 4.0 or
  TOEFL-IBT minimum 40 or
  TOEFL-ITP minimum 450 or
  MU GRAD TEST minimum 40  

English proficiency score for graduation

  IELTS minimum 5.0 or
  TOEFL-IBT minimum 54 or
  TOEFL-ITP minimum 480 or
  MU GRAD TEST minimum 60  
บัณฑิตวิทยาลัยกำหนดรับผลคะแนนการทดสอบ TOEFL-iBT หรือ IELTS ที่มาจากศูนย์สอบโดยตรงเท่านั้น ดังนั้นหากผู้สมัครมีผลคะแนนการทดสอบภาษาอังกฤษดังกล่าว ขอให้ติดต่อศูนย์สอบเพื่อส่งผลคะแนนมายังบัณฑิตวิทยาลัยโดยตรง ลงทะเบียนได้ที่ http://www.grad.mahidol.ac.th/form01/

Summary:

The Master of Science in Medical Technology programme (International Programme) is designed to produce highly competent scholars and professionals capable of upgrading the academic development and new technology in the field medical technology, general and medical sciences in order to find solutions and solve the public health problems of the country and to improve quality of life of the people. In addition, graduates will promote study and research work in order to develop better clinical laboratory services, enhance the understanding of disease, and improve medical diagnosis and treatment of disease.

The program emphasizes fundamental knowledge, advanced technology, knowledge integration together with cutting-edge research designed to equip graduates with strong academic and research competencies. In addition, the faculty has a broad spectrum of expertise and provides training opportunities in a wide range of disciplines. These include hematology, clinical microbiology, virology, immunology, clinical biochemistry, host-parasite interactions, and free radicals in biology, regulation of gene expression, molecular biology, medical laboratory equipment and imaging technology.

The curriculum is flexible, usually two years for full-time students. Foundations courses aim to build skills in communication, professional advocacy, research, and problem solving. Outcomes and objectives are assessed throughout the program, in successful completion of coursework, thesis research, and thesis defense.
