The Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University, has a policy of helping our graduate students who have financial problems. The faculty will provide loans for students to pay their graduate registration fees in the second semester of academic year 2008.

Applicants can be students of the Faculty of Graduate Studies from any level or year. Students can apply for loans only to pay tuition fees at Mahidol University. Students whose student identification number begins with 51 are entitled to apply for the loan in the second semester of 2008.

Applicants must not be debtors of the Faculty of Graduate Studies or Mahidol University at the time of their application.

Applicants must present letters indicating approval of the loan application from the Chair of their Program Administrative Committee and from their major academic advisor, respectively.

         The value of the loan must not exceed the amount of the student's tuition fees for the semester and must not exceed 20,000 baht in total.

Applicants can download the application form (GR.SS.06) from the web site www.grad.mahidol.ac.th .

Applicants can submit an application at all branch Offices of the Faculty of Graduate Studies or at the Student Services Office, Faculty of Graduate Studies (Salaya), during business hours from now until October 13th, 2008.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies will not consider any incomplete or late applications.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies will consider only the applications of students who can fulfill all the criteria stated in item 2 and who pass an interview with the Student Loan Committee set up by the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The judgment of the Committee is final.

Applicants can check whether or not they have been deemed eligible to be interviewed via the announcement at all branches of the Faculty of Graduate Studies or from the web site www.grad.mahidol.ac.th. The announcement will be made by Friday October 17th, 2008.

The results will be announced at all branches of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and www.graduate.mahidol.ac.th. on Friday, October 24th , 2008.

Successful applicants must come to the Student Services Office, Faculty of Graduate Studies (Salaya) on Tuesday October 28th, 2008 in order to sign the contract. They must be accompanied by a government officer who holds at least a level 4 position and who is willing to act as guarantor for the loan.

Unless prior notice has been given, if a successful applicant does not show up on the date specified in item 5.4 to sign the contract with the Faculty of Graduate Studies, then approval for the loan will be withdrawn.

Successful applicants will receive payment within 5 business days of signing the contract with the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Successful applicants must repay the loan in equal installments over a period of 6 consecutive months. The due date for each repayment is the fifth of each month, starting from December 2008.

If applicants fail to make their payment on or before the due date, they must pay a fine of 200 baht per day for each day that their payment is late. If the fifth day of the month is a holiday, applicants will be allowed to pay on the following business day without penalty.

If a student discontinues his/her study in the semester in which they are receiving the loan, they must, under all circumstances, repay the loan in full to the Faculty of Graduate Studies within a time specified by the Faculty.
