Additional advantages of the programme

The purpose of the Ph.D. Program in Sustainable Leadership at Mahidol University is to develop graduates with the knowledge and skills needed among the next generation of university faculty members in leading and managing for sustainability for Thailand and elsewhere. The program combines a strong research orientation with sustainable leadership as the field of study to contribute to ensuring sustainable development of Thai and ASEAN societies at all levels and in all sectors. The program seeks to develop theoretical and methodological sophistication among its graduates so that they can understand important economic, social, environmental, and cultural problems, develop viable solutions, and contribute new knowledge to the global community of scholars in the field of sustainable leadership. The program's is the primary academic affiliate of the ASEAN Center for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD) which is also located at CMMU. This key relationship brings scholarships to support PhD students, injects a relevant policy focus into their research and development projects, and enhances the impact of research generated by the PhD program.

Admission Requirements

1. Hold a Master's degree in management or a related field from a university verified by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation
2. Have strong academic records with a minimum graduate GPA of 3.50
3. Have a Master's degree with a thesis option, independent research project, or publish research in an internationally refereed journal 
4. Pass the CMMU Ph.D. Program Entrance Test and have an English language test score meeting the requirements of the College of Management and the Faculty of Graduate Studies 
5. Applicants who have qualifications that do not meet 2 - 4 criteria may be considered and approved by the Program Director and the Dean of the College of Management with assignment of additional coursework as deemed necessary

The program is aimed at several employment groups in the following order of priority:

- Academics, researchers, experts, lecturers for governmental and private institutions (e.g. universities or colleges)
- Sustainability professionals in government and private organizations
- Sustainability consultants
- Professionals who work in international development agencies such as UNDP, ESCAP and Asian Development Bank
- Corporate trainers
- Research and Development professionals
